Smashed potatoes are one of those simple dishes that deliver way more flavor than the time and effort they require. When the lightly smashed potatoes are baked until crispy with olive oil, Italian Garlic, Aleppo chili, and a sprinkle of parmesan, they turn irresistibly golden and full of taste

Smashed Potatos with Italian Garlic and parmesan

SMASHED POTATOS (side dish for 4 people)

Perfect as a crispy side dish for dinner - or as a snack enjoyed straight from the baking tray with a good dip. A recipe you'll come back to again and again!

INGREDIENTS

500 g small potatoes
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp Italian Garlic
½ tsp Aleppo Chili
½ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
½ tsp dried thyme or oregano (optional)
30 g grated parmesan

DIRECTIONS

Bake for about 20-25 minutes, until crispy and golden brown.Boil the potatoes in lightly salted water for about 15-20 minutes, until tender but not falling apart. Preheat the oven to 220°C (fan).

Place the boiled potatoes on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Use a fork or the bottom of a glass to gently smash them. Brush or drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and optional thyme. Finish with a generous sprinkle of grated parmesan.

Bake for about 20-25 minutes, until crispy and golden brown.

Serve warm with a dip, such as garlic dressing, Happy Roots dip, or sour cream.
