Dukkah – A Taste of History with a Twist

Dukkah (also spelled du’ah or duqqa) originates from Egypt, and the name comes from the Arabic word meaning “to pound” – a nod to the traditional way of preparing the blend by crushing the ingredients in a mortar. Originally a simple mix of nuts, seeds, and spices, Dukkah was a staple for Bedouins travelling across the desert – quick to prepare, nourishing, and full of flavour.

At Mill & Mortar, we’ve created our own take on this age-old concept, and our Dukkah blends have been a beloved part of our range for over a decade.

Our Red Dukkah brings together two of our core ingredients – organic spices and premium Spanish almonds – in a warm, aromatic mix of sweet paprika from Murcia, coriander, cumin, white sesame seeds, and coarsely chopped almonds. The result? A rich, roasted flavour with gentle heat, satisfying crunch, and deep complexity.

How to use Red Dukkah

Many know Dukkah as a classic dip – just add a good oil and serve with bread or raw veggies. But it’s so much more than that...

Think of Dukkah as a flavourful seasoning that’s ready to use straight from the tin: Sprinkle it on eggs, avocado, soups, or salads. Use it as a crunchy coating for meat or fish, or as a finishing touch on grilled vegetables and warm dishes. Wherever you'd normally add a pinch of salt or fresh herbs, Dukkah steps in with more texture, more character – and a lot more taste.
